  Does anyone actually do transmission services

  Does anyone actually do transmission services on time or are we all just gambling?

  I’m going to be completely honest here, I’ve owned my 2018 A4 for nearly four years now and I’ve never once had the transmission serviced, not even a fluid change, and I know that’s terrible but I feel like most people are in the same boat and just don’t admit it. The car’s at about 85,000 kilometers now and everything still feels fine, no rough shifts or weird noises, but I know deep down that I’m basically playing Russian roulette with the gearbox and it’s only a matter of time before something goes wrong. I keep telling myself I’ll get it done at the next service, but then life gets busy and I forget about it, or I see the quote and convince myself it can wait a bit longer. I’ve been reading through old forum posts and it seems like there’s a real divide between people who swear by regular transmission services and people who never touch them and still get 200,000 kilometers out of their cars with no issues. I’m trying to figure out whether I should just bite the bullet and get it done properly, or whether I’ve already left it too long and touching it now might actually cause problems by disturbing sediment that’s been sitting there for years.
